The Boretti Timeless Heritage Brand Legacy

They say that if you know where you come from, you will know where you are going. This sentence perfectly describes Mark Boretti, the founder of the luxury furniture brand Boretti Timeless Heritage. You cannot know yourself without knowing your roots. Identity – when we refer to architecture – is the foundation on which we can build a lasting, safe home.

Mark Boretti, who comes from a multi-generational family of Italian architects, whose successes can be traced back to the times of Stanisław August Poniatowski, proves that family is a compass that guides us in turbulent times. It is an inspiration to reach for the stars and a refuge when difficult times come.

Mark was inspired to design furniture by the desire to work under his own name. A name that is very well known in the West. The progenitors of the Boretti family were brought to Poland by Stanisław Staszic, on the orders of King Stanisław August Poniatowski. They dealt with the architecture of Warsaw and Vilnius.

"My ancestors – two brothers – landed in Poland at the invitation of King Poniatowski. One of them, Giuseppe Boretti, who, while remaining in Poland, took the name Józef, and Jan Boretti, who worked mainly in Vilnius and was a builder. They were brought to Poland because at the church of St. Anne, between the Royal Castle and the place where the Sigismund's Column stands today, there was a slope descending to the Vistula. The slope began to subside, and an architect was needed who had experience with difficult ground and geotechnical problems. My ancestors were famous for this in Lombardy. They came from a town north of Milan and created beautiful palaces on the principle of cantilevers, on lakes Como, Lugano, or Lago Maggiore. So what is such a slope on Castle Square to them, to stabilize it and straighten the Sigismund's Column. They did their job flawlessly, and thanks to that they started designing various other things – sacral and palace – along the Royal Route,” recalls Mark Boretti.

Both ancestors are buried in Warsaw’s Powązki Cemetery.

“The idea of designing my own furniture came as a way to perpetuate my name and transfer my family history in a more direct way. Buildings or cities have less personal interactions with people than the furniture that surrounds us in our own home,” adds M. Boretti

Furniture is used – its touch, smell, warmth have a direct effect on us. We sit, eat and relax on it. When in one of the interviews from the pre-transformation period for Polish Television, the host asked Marek Boretti: “Why, Mr. Citizen Boretti, don’t you make, for example, hair brilliantine in Italy with such a name, and instead deal with culture”?

Mark replied with a smile: “Ask Mr. Aleksander Ford why he makes films in Poland and not cars in the United States.” This conversation was the impetus for the birth of a dream to create his own line of products that would be durable, timeless, resistant to fashion and establishing a very direct contact with the recipient. And furniture is the object with which we have the closest contact in space.

Mark Boretti does not like things that are just a trend, that are short-lived. The first and fundamental value is durability - something that will stand the test of time and resist changing fashions. If something functions for two months or a year, in 10 years people will say: "Oh, that was fashionable then." The Boretti Timeless Heritage brand is the opposite of such an approach. It offers timeless furniture that today, 100 years ago and in another 100 years will arouse delight, respect and admiration.

According to the principle that our heritage is not only what has been passed on to us, but also what we do with it, Mark Boretti proves that although we can choose different career paths in life, if we know and trust our identity, we will be heading in the right direction.
